Stunning and rare pair of Art Nouveau armchairs. Design by Willem Penaat. Striking Dutch design from the 1900s. Solid elm frames with original rush seats. This wonderful pair of Art Nouveau Brabant armchairs by Willem Penaat is in very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Willem Penaat was inspired by 17th century and 18th century simple Dutch farmhouse furniture when he designed his version of the so-called Brabant farmers chair in 1899. Our gallery is a family-owned and managed company which has been dedicated to dealing in 20th century Decorative Arts since it’s foundation in the late 1920s.
