A blonde mahogany framed bergère chair with caned seat back and cognac leather seat pad, designed by Danish architect, Bernt Pedersen.
The bergère chair, an 18th century French design characterised by its exposed wooden frame, was popularised by British furniture designers in the 19th and 20th centuries. Over time, this design was gradually integrated into the vernacular of Danish furniture design, particularly through the work and teachings of Kaare Klint.
Klint’s 1914 Faabourg Chair is a notable example of the transmission of this design typology, with its rounded back and open frame- an expression shared by Pedersen’s interpretation of the French bergère.
