In a gorgeous and unusual Springtime palette of light green, gold, turquoise, orange and light blue, this extra large antique Japanese serving dish radiates with fresh botanical beauty. Alternate petals of the lotus flower design contain fish scales, characters and fine basketweave patterns, while the decorative rim introduces yet more colors and patterns to the ensemble. Good antique condition, with sporadic wear to the gilding, some irregularities, firing flaws to the glazes, as made, and a group of three shallow hairlines to the glaze of the underside of the dish. No marks. Meiji period, (1868-1912).
