Typical of those made in Surakarta (Solo) one of the two central Javanese cities known for its highly developed batik art. This kain design consists of nine repetitions of five diagonal stripes. Each design element in this kain is a traditional Javanese design derived from Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist decorative traditions.
There are no holes, repairs or stains although the fabric is soft with age. The colors are vibrant and without fading.
