Japanese shop sign “Kanban” for Footwear, double-sided, Keyaki wood, Late Meiji.
This wooden sign reads “Yorozu” meaning many different varieties of high grade foodwear. The name of the shop is Yano Shoten and their logo is a red circle with their initial “Ya” inside. The telephone number at the lower left of the piece reads “Telephone number 50”, which pinpoints the age of the piece from the 1920s-1930s (late Meiji to early Taisho).
